ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Naba Ballygunge Mahavidyalaya,&nbsp; formerly known as Charu Chandra Evening College, started it's journey on 15th July, 1985. Charu Chandra Evening College came to be known as Naba Ballygunge Mahavidyalaya from 1st April, 2005 and it changed from Evening to Day College on and from 1st July, 2005.&nbsp;
Economics as a subject is being taught since 1985 as a General ( Elective) subject in B.A. Pass/ General subject and B.Com Honours/ General subject.
Over the years the Economics department organised several national and international UGC and ICSSR sponsored seminars and webinars and published edited ISBN&nbsp; volumes of selected papers presented in those seminars. The department publishes their departmental ISSN journal "ALEKHYA" since 2006. Till date the department published 15 issues of that journal. The Economics department also hosted departmental seminars and webinars for the students of the College and organised excursions for the students. The department encourages the students to flourish their writing skills on various topics of Economics by publishing their papers in the departmental journal.&nbsp;
