After completion of the course, the students will be able to:

DSCC- 1/ MN- : FUNDAMENTALS OF PHILOSOPHY
CO1- Gives students a basic idea of what is Philosophy, how it is distinguished from common sense and science. And why Philosophy is said to delve beyond the realm of science, how the different branches of philosophy reveals an integrated overview of the world.
CO2- Helps the students to grasp the authentic knowledge, which must be true. Makes them classify what is to be consider as knowledge and what is not (understand knowledge both in the strong and weak sense). Helps them to critically grasp the different theories of knowledge.
CO3-&nbsp;Shapes their ethical perspective &ndash; to differentiate between good and bad, right and wrong, duty and virtue and so on. This helps them to take ethical decisions in their lives.

SEC-MAN AND NATURE
CO1-Equips the students to be able to distinguish between anthropocentric and non- anthropocentric approaches towards the environment.
CO2- Helps the students to enquire about the intrinsic value of the environment through theories like Deep Ecology.

DSCC-2/MN2: OUTLINES OF INDIAN PHILOSOPHY
C01- Provides an overall idea about the Indian schools of philosophy.
Helps them to trace back the emergence of Indian philosophy, it's origin, development, basic teachings of the Vedas and Upanishads, the laws of Karma, Self, Liberation and the classification between the Theistic and Atheistic schools of philosophy. This knowledge caters to the basic spiritual thirst for knowledge in human beings. A. Human Rights:
&nbsp;
The basic information&nbsp;about the origin, development, justification of human rights helps the students to become aware of their own rights and realise the injustices and inequalities prevalent in the society.
B. Feminist Ethics:
 The key concepts of Feminism like Sex, Gender, Sexism, Patriarchy all help the students to become aware of the existing gender problem and gender discrimination and they get to know about the feminist movement and it's different schools and their demands.

Western Logic.
Provides the students with a basic understanding of the element , methods and rules of western logic.
Helps students to enhance their logical thinking and reasoning skills.

SEC-3: LOGICAL REASONING AND APPLICATION: INDIAN AND WESTERN
The basics of logical reasoning in both Indian Logic and Western logic helps the students to develop critical thinking, better decision-making, problem solving, better analytical skills.

HISTORY OF WESTERN PHILOSOPHY:
The Pre Socratic philosophy informs the students about the nature of knowledge, the problem of one and many, de-mythologization of the Greek religion by shifting focus from the divinity to the elements and the universe.
It also helps them to become aware of the renowned Socratic method, Plato's political philosophy and Aristotelian logic.
 The course will also give them information about concepts like substance , matter, causality and so on from the perspectives of Rationalists like Descares , Spinoza , Leibnitz and Empiricist like Locke, Berkeley, Hume.

PO1: Have an overall idea of Philosophy and what it deals with and its importance and its different branches especially epistemology, metaphysics and ethics.

PO2: The students are informed about the different schools of Indian philosophy and the concepts they deal with. It also helps them to know about different concepts like Liberation, Varnashrama Dharma, Self and so on.

PO3: The students are made aware of the theories of Moore, Chisolm, Callicott, Rolstone III about the relationship between Nature and Man and on the intrinsic value of Nature and how these theories entail respect for Nature.

PO4: The students come to know about the basic concept, necessity and justification of human rights and the concepts of Equality and Justice and the relevant theories of Rawls and Amartya Sen.

Feminist Ethics introduces the students to the basic concepts of Sex and Gender and their distinction, other concepts like Sexism, Patriarchy and Androcentrism and Liberal and Radical Feminism.
