ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Naba Ballygunge Mahavidyalaya , formerly known as Charuchandra Evening College started its journey on 15th July , 1985 . Charuchandra Evening College came to be known as Naba Ballygunge Mahavidyalaya from 1st April , 2005 and the college changed the time shift from evening to day on and from 1st July , 2005 .

&nbsp;Philospphy is taught in the college as a general ( elective ) subject since 1985 . In the begining , Shantimoy Karforma (M.A) was thesole teacher of the departmet . Shantimoy Karforma published a book&nbsp; " Darshan Parichay" for Higher Secondary students of philosophy in 1985 which is still very popular and useful to students . Besides he was a noted lyricist of Akashbani , Kolkata .&nbsp;
After his retirement , Dr. Atashi Chatterjee joined the department . On March 2007 , she left the department and joined Jadavpur University. On 1st September , 2009 , Smt.Mala Saha joined the department as Assistant Professor .
